To strip the Canadian Wheat Board of its monopoly powers and let farmers market their own grain "is as wrong as it is un-Canadian," the board's president says.
And if the quote bears repeating, I believe my own admonishment bears repeating; Agriculture is a business, not a political plaything. The Wheat Board monopoly makes it political and for that reason, we need marketing choice. A vote for choice is a vote that gives you the privilege not to have to hear speeches like this one.

The farmers in Ontairio must be unCanadian then eh?
If the CWB makes ag political, what do cradle to grave subsidies make it?
There is one way to get the CWB to quit being a political movement. The way is to vote for choice in the barley plebiscite. Marketing choice will force the CWB to turn its focus to business and serving the real interests of producers, and turn away from politics.
To percyq, I know where you are coming from, but let's face it, every industry is at the government trough. It doesn't make it right and it doesn't mean that there will be no ag politics without the single desk. But government should not be the one buying and selling the commodity. State trading is a bridge too far.
